Eris, the largest dwarf planet

The
object at the center of the image is Eris (aka 2003 UB313 or Xena). It
was imaged with the
161-megapixel Palomar-Quest camera on 2003 Sep 8 during the course of
our
ongoing survey for quasars, supernovae, and variable objects. The image
is a color composite made from drift-scan images taken in the B, R, and
I filters.
