Discovery images of Dwarf-Planet Eris
Animated GIF images showing discovery images of Dwarf-Planet
Eris. Eris is the largest know object in the solar system beyond
Neptune (larger than Pluto). It was discovered by M. Brown (Caltech),
C. Trujillo (Gemini Observatory), and D. Rabinowitz (Yale
University) in 2003 in a dedicated search for new Trans-Neptunina
objects using the Palomar Quest Camera (see
http://www.gps.caltech.edu/~mbrown/planetlila/index.html). Eris is the
moving object left of center, near the edge of the field.
